Complex problems of educational field were in the spotlight this week. After Thursday’s meeting of the Humanitarian council chaired by the President, the Cabinet of Ministers held an expanded special meeting on the development of education yesterday. Thus, the Head of the Government Mykola Azarov kept his promise to pay special attention to this area.

Prime Minister of Ukraine Mykola Azarov met Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Syrian Arab Republic Walid Al-Muallim, who payed an official visit to Kyiv .

The end of Mykola Azarov’s vacation had absolutely no impact on Government meetings. The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Volodymyr Lytvyn, Minister of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine Anatoliy Tolstoukhov, Head of the State Committee on Television and Radio Broadcasting Yuriy Plaksyuk cut the ribbon at the opening ceremony.  

At yesterday’s Government meeting, the First Vice Prime Minister Andriy Klyuyev reminded Cabinet members of the fire situation, especially in the south-eastern regions, which was recently discussed at a telephone conference with leaders of all regions under the chairmanship of the President.

The Government policy in the energy sector is aimed at developing domestic production of hydrocarbons, the First Vice Prime Minister Andriy Klyuev said.  The price of Ukrainian gas has to be brought in line with the cost of production, for oil and gas companies to work with profitability of 8-12%. 

The First Vice Prime Minister Andriy Klyuev outlined the problems related to this year’s harvest. "More than 28 million tons of grain has been harvested so far. The State must prevent an increase of bread price on the domestic market. There is enough of high-quality grain to ensure procurement by the Agrarian Fund, renew the supply of the State Reserve and formation of regional funds for domestic needs of the country," the official said. “However, strange things happen: delays in the purchase of grain for personal needs, irrational use of remnants of grain, manipulation with prices and quality indicators."
