Subway Construction: a Wind of Change
According to the official website of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, 261 million hryvnas are allocated for subway construction in Kyiv and Dnipropetrovsk this year.
Under the Government’s resolution, 200 million hryvnas are to be allocated for the construction of subway route between Lybidska and Vystavkovyi Tsentr stations of Kurenivsko-Chervonoarmiyska line of Kyiv Subway. 61 million hryvnas are to be allocated for the development of Dnipropetrovsk Subway.
This is a great news for residents of these two cities and subway-construction workers. The management of Kyiv Subway declared that with this support Demiivska, Holosiivska, and Vasylkivska stations are expected to be set in operation by the end of this year. Their launch will decrease the land transportation load of Teremky residential area of the capital. The money will also be used to provide a timely payment for the work of assisting construction companies.
The same idea is expressed in Dnipropetrovsk. Uriadovyi Kurier has interviewed Serhiy Horovets, the Head Manager of the public enterprise responsible for subway construction in Dnipropetrovsk. He states that “the money for subway construction allocated by the Government will help us to solve our most urgent problems. It is important that for the first time in last 6 years funds are allocated in the first quarter. Thus, we are able to provide timely and effective payment for the present volume of work: keeping tunnels in operation and danger-free condition, water eviction, air-conditioning, etc. Technical and mining works in the subway route between Vokzalna and Tsentralna stations that desperately need financing at the moment will be also carried out.” It was these problems that kept mining and construction works behind the schedule. But experts are convinced that now, with the help of money granted by the Government, we shall witness the momentum for action, the problems will be solved and the construction process will finally be completed.
