USA Calls on NATO and Russia to Reconcile
24.02.2010

US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has stated that NATO poses no threat to Russia and called on the Alliance to develop tight cooperation with Moscow. Giving a speech on NATO future in Washington, Hillary Clinton has once more rejected the proposals of Russia’s President Dmitriy Medvedev on new European security architecture: she believes that there are absolutely no grounds for signing new agreements regarding this matter or for establishing new institutions, BBC reports.

“Russia is a very important NATO’s partner in our efforts to prevent nuclear weapon proliferation. We need Russia to become our partner in the sphere of anti-missile security. We call on Russia to assist NATO in the anti-ballistic missile system elaboration, which could protect all the people of Russia and Europe,” US Secretary of State said.
