
US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has stated that NATO poses no threat to Russia and called on the Alliance to develop tight cooperation with Moscow. Giving a speech on NATO future in Washington, Hillary Clinton has once more rejected the proposals of Russia’s President Dmitriy Medvedev on a new European security architecture: she believes that there are absolutely no grounds for signing new agreements regarding this matter or for establishing new institutions, BBC reports.
“Russia is a very important NATO’s partner in our efforts to prevent nuclear weapon proliferation. We need Russia to become our partner in the sphere of anti-missile security. We call on Russia to assist NATO in the anti-ballistic missile system elaboration, which could protect all the people of Russia and Europe,” US Secretary of State said.
