According to BBC reports, the USA President Barack Obama intends to initiate sharp reductions in nuclear arsenals within the framework of the new White House policy aimed at the non-proliferation of nuclear weapons. President Obama is expected to hold a meeting with US Secretary of Defense Robert Gates to discuss the new policy. The U.S. administration is thought to be considering eliminating thousands of nuclear weapons: ballistic missiles and warheads that are stored in ammunition depots. The Obama Administration is expected to refuse from George Bush’s plans to create a new generation of warheads capable to reach underground targets. According to the White House, the new strategy is aimed at the implementation of President Obama’s aspirations to stop the proliferation of nuclear weapons in the world.
