President Victor Yanukovych held meetings with the leaders of all parliamentary factions and the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada, Volodymyr Lytvyn.
“Setting up a coalition in the Verkhovna Rada is of primary importance now. I do not want to stipulate any conditions for the factions, including the Party of Regions faction. I want you to reach an agreement within the next few days to form a coalition that would propose the candidates for Prime Minister and members of the Government. Find the political will and reach an agreement. We are expected to overcome the crisis of government and move forward by the public and our international partners,” President underscored. Otherwise, early parliamentary election will be our only option, he stated.
The Head of the Parliament and faction leaders agreed with the urgency to form a new coalition and expressed willingness to start negotiating. Mykola Tomenko declared that his political power decided to move to opposition. Thus, BYuT will not participate in negotiations, President’s press service reports.
President mentioned: “The step taken by the Government opens the way to form a new coalition. I encourage you to cooperate and I am ready to be your partner. I shall act exclusively in the interests of our country, society and within the framework of the current legislation.”
Viktor Yanukovych urged all faction leaders to start negotiating to form a new coalition.
