Total depoliticization of all state agencies is the way to guarantee that people engage in state affairs. The efficiency of work must be at the core of our policy, Victor Yanukovych underscored at the meeting with the newly-appointed Government, chaired by Mykola Azarov.
Victor Yanukovych congratulated Government officials on their appointment and formation of the new coalition in the Verkhovna Rada, which, according to the President, will help successfully implement programs, jointly elaborated by President and Government.
“It will enable all branches of power – the Verkhovna Rada, Government and President – to unite their efforts to restore order in the state and recover from economic crisis,” Victor Yanukovych underscored, highlighting the high level of professionalism of all members of the new Government.
Terminating the activity of the opposition Government was one of the first joint decisions taken by President and current Government. “We all have wonderful memories of pleasant and fruitful cooperation,” Victor Yanukovych mentioned, assigning Mykola Azarov to make use of all the results of the carried out work.
Victor Yanukovych also stressed the need to examine the activities of Yulia Tymoshenko’s Government and conduct an international audit of Ukrainian finances.
President also stated that the mistakes in HR policy made in 2005 should not be repeated, stressing that top-level professionals must remain at their posts.
President stated that elaborating the 2010 budget is one of the highest-priority tasks of the Government and its Head Mykola Azarov. “You should take into account critical situation in the country when working out the budget,” President said.
According to the President, the Government’s main objective is to recover from crisis through the implementation of reforms. “Reforms should be at the core of the Government activities. Ideas and initiatives must be targeted at improving people’s life, implementation of the Law on Social Guarantees in particular, ” he said.
“I realize that we all inherited a heavy legacy. I am also aware that we must take effective measures in the nearest future for people to see that the new Government does work,” President’s press service quotes him as saying.
